Imelda Sandoval, PhD, is a scientist with over 25 years of research experience in functional genomics, drug discovery, and cancer biology.

Dr. Sandoval’s work is collaborative and has resulted in many peer-reviewed publications and presentations at both national and international conferences. She spent several years directly managing a laboratory involved in prioritizing a broad variety of experiments and establishing programs and timelines for the expedient completion of projects.

Dr. Sandoval has investigated the functional consequences of disease-relevant genes and gene variants using zebrafish as a model organism. Additional work with zebrafish includes establishing a zebrafish-based phenotype screen to elucidate a mechanism of action and identify novel bioactive compounds.
